RAWGraphs

RAWGraphs is a web-browser based data visualization tool that is easy to navigate for users unfamiliar with statistics and data sets.

RAWGraph’s Logo

When you get to the landing page, the first thing you will see is the RAWGraphs logo and two options: “USE IT NOW!” and “Fork it on GitHub”. The most reliable option is “Use it now”, but it requires stable internet connection. The GitHub option is for users who want to run it locally on their machine, but this also requires internet connection and some comfort using GitHub.

You can test RAWGraphs without any data since they offer sample data for you. This is also a great exercise to gain familiarity with data visualization. You can upload Excel files, TSV, CSV, DSV, JSON, or simply copy and paste it.

Once your data is uploaded, you can play with various charts and graphs to convey your information. A helpful feature of RAWGraphs is the descriptions under charts you select. Not every chart or graph is suitable for your data set, so these descriptions are helpful for beginners.

The drag-and-drop system to organize and determine the information your chart will pull to form its visualization makes it easy to experiment with different scenarios.

When you are satisfied with your data visualization, you can download it as a Vector graphic (svg), an image (png), or a data model (json). If you need to add more graphics, I recommend downloading it as a vector graphic to give you more control over editing. If this is the final image for a poster or website, you should download it as an image. There is also an option to embed the graphic straight from RAWGraphs, but doesn’t promise to last or work on your desired web platform. For archival purposes, I would download either the vector or image file.
