Eluminate

What is it?

Elluminate is a suite of tools.  The tool used at The College of Wooster is Elluminate Live.  This tool allows for synchronous meeting with an unlimited number of users across a distance with audio and video conferencing, a common whiteboard space and text chat.

Key features
  • Integrated teleconferencing
  • Voice over internet protocol voice chat
  • Shared, interactive whiteboard
  • Advanced moderator tools
  • Instant poling
  • Multimedia content delivery
  • Breakout rooms
  • Application sharing
  • Record and playback a session
  • Synchronized web tour
Who uses it?

Elluminate is used by teachers to interact with, teach and collaborate with students and colleagues at a distance.

How does it work?

The moderator creates a space for the group to meet and then sends out an email invitation containing a link to the created space.  Participants click the link and then are directed to open the meeting space.

Things to consider

Teleconferencing is not always available.  The number of participants using video is limited to at most six.

Uses as an Instructional Technology

Elluminate is a tool that can be used to connect people over a distance allowing collaboration, teaching and learning.
